Newport is known for its’ many firsts, when it comes to recreation, it is no wonder Newport was named “America’s First Resort.” There is no shortage of recreation or leisure activities, you can take a exhilarating sail aboard 12 meter America’s Cup Yacht, tour a magnificent mansion of the Gilded Age, or play a tennis match on the only public grass courts in the U.S., at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

If nature is your pursuit, enjoy a stroll along the famous Cliff Walk, which affords panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean with the Gilded Age “summer cottages” as the backdrop. Or enjoy several of the area’s other natural attractions: our beaches, vineyard tours, and the Norman Bird Sanctuary, all on Aquidneck Island, are sure to delight those interested in the outdoors.

Due to its significant maritime heritage, including playing host to the America’s Cup Yacht races, Newport became known as “The Sailing Capital of the World.” While in Newport, you can enjoy a breath taking sail aboard a speedy former America’s Cup Yacht, or take in a more leisurely sunset sail aboard a larger schooner, complete with refreshments.

The Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina is uniquely positioned for those interested in boating, since it is the only full-service hotel in Newport that owns & operates a Marina. The Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina consists of 60 slips and isseasonally from May to October. The Marina is the Home of the Legendary America’s Cup Yachts, six 12 meter class beautifully restored classic yachts. These sleek yachts are available for private charters as well as individuals for 2 hour sunset sails, departing daily, right from our docks.
